Trinity School Warms Up its New Hall
Holy Trinity Primary School staff christened their fantastic new Hall recently with a staff training session on warm ups and warm downs for PE lessons.
I have always emphasised the importance of warming up to everyone involved in physical activity at all levels. It sets the tone for the rest of the session. All of the staff threw themselves into it which enabled them to have the full experience, so they will have no problem in relating how the body should feel to their classes with the various activities!
A variety of equipment was used to provide variety from ladders, to hoops and bean bags and many without just a bit of imagination.
Warming down is probably the most underused aspect for all sports performers and those just keen to get fit. In the pressures of school, time is a factor as well but sewing the seed of slowing down and some kind of stretch plays a huge part in enabling the body to recover for the next session, as well as ensuring that the children are not still in running mode when they are back in the classroom!
Well done to all of the staff at the end of a busy term.
