Beginners’ Guide To Strength Training

Beginners’ Guide to Strength Training

A great session with Louis following his Christmas present of some weights.  A talented basketballer and keen to improve his game by adding strength training to his programme his parents booked a Personal Training session to advise Louis on how to train properly and safely.

After speaking to Louis to establish his main goals prior to the session, a training programme was devised tailored specifically to enable him to achieve his targets.

With so much “advice” on social media and the internet its really important to separate fact from fiction, as well as work out what’s best for someone that is still growing so adult principles do not necessarily apply.

Such an introductory session is a great way to start someone off on the right track for a lifelong future of safe and effective training.

My 5 main points to beginner’s strength training:

  1. Warm up
  2. Never compromise technique for extra weight
  3. Compound exercises before isolation
  4. The last few reps should be challenging but achievable
  5. Warm Down

If you are interested in a session for your child please get in touch.
