Home Nations Duty For Hayes

Home Nations Duty for Hayes

Less than 2 years after major surgery and after a gruelling series of trials Clare Hayes has been selected for the  England O45’s Hockey team playing in the Home Nations Tournament this weekend.

The initial aim of Clare’s training was to restore normal function back to her joint along with maintaining some level of fitness. Once her range of movement and strength had improved training gradually got to more hockey specific speed and agility drills along with strength and power work to get her speed back for on the pitch. Interval worked was used a lot to increase fitness or combining sprints with compound exercise’s.

Below Clare gives her appraisal of her training since injury:

“I have been training with James for many years now. Following my knee surgery James was absolutely instrumental in getting me back to full fitness, and most importantly getting me back on the hockey pitch. His care and attention to detail has meant that 2 years after my injury which necessitated the surgery I have been selected for the England O45’s hockey squad to play in the Home Nations and European Championships in Rotterdam this year. I can’t thank James enough and would thoroughly recommend his training sessions to anyone who is serious about looking after themselves and getting fit.”
