Strength & Conditioning for Coaches Workshop
Sports coaches from across Somerset were at Taunton School today for the Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership (SASP) Valuing Volunteers day.
Over 20 participants got stuck in to the Strength and Conditioning workshop designed to give coaches ideas of how to integrate S & C into their coaching sessions, taking into account the limited time, facilities and equipment that they have.
Over the 3 hours we covered :
-Dynamic warm ups-including movement mechanics
-Strength-lunge patterns
-Plyometrics
-Core strength
-Ankle Stability
-Glute medius strength for injury prevention and improved performance
-Conditioning games
-Flexibility
To reinforce the point of minimal equipment we used 4 cones, some tennis balls and 3 footballs!
A great effort by all and a real buzz with the positive feedback after the session.
