Tennis Ace Earns Scholarship to Millfield
Aspiring tennis player Sofia has earned a scholarship to the prestigious Millfield School. I was lucky enough to work with Sofia since she arrived from the Ukraine with the aim of conditioning her to get the most from her tennis ability.
Our main aims were to improve her speed around the court and to try to prevent rounding of the shoulders, a common problem with young tennis players.
Sofia always worked really hard and her running technique both in a straight line as well as her ability to move around the court improved greatly. Her general strength also improved with a variety of exercises such as lunges, squats and plyometrics in addition to specific shoulder strengthening to avoid scapular winging.
As with many young sports performers I try to instil some good principles for their entire sporting career not just quick fixes. Click on the link below for these aims:
Good luck to Sofia in her new school
